Child Homes(Boys) Project

Child Homes(Boys) Project

The Ministry of Women and Child Development works to provide institutional facilities to house children both in conflict with the law and children in need of care and protection. These institutions include shelter homes, children’s homes and observation homes, and special homes. Institutional locations are chosen based on need as determined by the Child Welfare Committee which is responsible for managing each child protection case. These homes host children for varying periods of time, depending on each case, but the aim is to reintegrate these children back into their families if possible.

In November 2013, SROUT started a child home for boys that has the capacity to host up to 50 children. The children placed in this home are those who are in need of care and protection, including children without parental care, runaway children, migrant children, and child substance abusers. They are admitted to the child home by the local Child Welfare Committee, who assess each individual case to determine the best option for the child. The child home provides accommodations and basic care as well as counseling and support. This home is a part of a broader goal of improving child development and ensuring child rights, and thus is an important part of SROUT’s work.
